Together, I work with my clients to help them understand the unconscious impact of early childhood experiences on their current ability to love, work and play, and help them gain inner freedom to live fuller, more wholesome lives.

I am a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in Chapel Hill with 25 years experience helping people to heal and transform emotional distress by talking freely and deeply about their lives. As a physician, I understand when medications may be needed to heal physiologic emotional distress. But I also know that a person who is listened and responded to with deep understanding will become clearer, stronger and freer to grow -- within themselves, in their relationships and in their work. This unique, personal therapeutic experience often leads to the most complete and lasting cure, and success in life.

Hello and welcome! I am a double board certified general and child/adolescent psychiatrist. My approach to patient care equally values therapy and medication management. I strive to understand patients as more than a list of psychiatric symptoms — instead, I see patients as complex individuals, who are trying their best given their personal life histories and unique neurobiology. I truly work to be wholistic and listen to my patients.

Dr. Swaminathan Thangaraj is board certified in both adult psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. He received his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, then completed general psychiatry residency at Drexel College of Medicine, followed by child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Before joining the outpatient psychiatry team at CareMind Health/Mindoula Clinical Services, Dr. Thangaraj worked as a child and adolescent psychiatrist at Sheppard-Pratt Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and McLean Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

Our caring and professional board-certified psychiatrists see children, adolescents, and adults for both medication management and psychotherapy. Dr. Duke-Sui and Dr. Boyer are board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. They offer both psychotherapy and medication management.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist, trained at Yale School of Medicine and Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency, with over 10 years of experience. I treat adults in North Carolina with a variety of difficulties including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, and substance use disorders. Her integrative approach to treatment allows her to deliver care that is holistic and patient-centered. She has over 16 years in the nursing field and has a special interest in treating bipolar disorders in addition to depression, anxiety, and PTSD symptoms. She believes that spirituality is an integral part of health that often gets overlooked. Her goal is to bridge the gap between spiritual faith and traditional medicine.

Given training in both Internal Medicine and Psychiatry, I have expertise in the intimate links between the mind and the body. My medical training and experience are enhanced by post-graduate study of modern psychoanalytic technique. This unique combination of skills allows me to treat patients with mood (Depression and Bipolar), trauma, and psychotic disorders. I am well suited to offer both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.
