As a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist, I work with clients throughout their life cycle. I see patients individually, in family settings and couples. When treating a child or adolescent, you are really helping a whole family system regain balance and stability. I work with people with a wide range of disorders and life issues. I patients with Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders. Dr. Sara Bortner is a native of Maryland and earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Psychiatric Mental Health from the University of Maryland. She received her BSN from Towson University. Sara originally started her career as a Registered Nurse at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and COVID-19 relief efforts. Sara is board certified and is trained across the lifespan including, pediatrics and adults, to treat various mental health disorders.

Chelsia Burkes-Brown is a Board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who sees clients in Oregon, Maryland, Washington, Maryland and Florida. She has over eleven years of nursing experience in a variety of settings, including inpatient psychiatric care across the lifespan. She is committed to providing both competent and compassionate care to her clients. She places high value on a client’s full participation in the development of each treatment plan to encourage compliance and believes everyone deserves to have access to high-quality mental health care. She specializes in children, teenagers, and young adults.

I work with children/adolescents/young adults and their families with a wide range of mental health and developmental concerns. I provide diagnosis and medication management when needed, as well as recommendations for additional services both at school and in the community. I offer a supportive environment for families struggling with their child's behavior and development. My primary goal is to improve quality of life for children and their caregivers.

I received my Bachelors Degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where I majored in the Biological Basis of Behavior and competed on the Men's Varsity Swimming Team. After graduating and prior to medical school, I became a private high school science teacher. I completed my Psychiatry residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in NYC, where I was selected as Chief Resident. During that time, I also completed a Psychodynamic Fellowship at New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. I then completed a Clinical Research Fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health with a focus on Depression and Anxiety.

Dr. Lake works with people of all ages and demographics who are experiencing mental health issues and disorders. She provides more than just medication management. Dr. Lake emphasizes the use of Psycho-education and comprehensive assessments of each patient's mental health needs to best develop effective treatment strategies, including the prescribing of medication in addition to daily/weekly lifestyle changes or plans to complement medication. She collaborates with the therapists on her team to provide integrated care for her patients benefiting from both therapy and medication.

We treat a variety of psychiatric conditions including (but not limited to) psychiatric emergencies and urgent consults for depression, anxiety, psychosis, panic attacks, drug detox, and Medication Assisted Treatment for drug and alcohol abuse. We see patient 6 yrs old and up.

I've held faculty appointments at Harvard University, Albert Einstein Medical College and Georgetown University.

Mrs. Register immigrated to the United State at the age of 11 from Vietnam. She grew up in Garden City, KS. She is the oldest of 8 children. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture from Louisiana State University and worked for a short time in that field before deciding to stay home full time to raise her three children. After her last child started Kindergarten, she wanted to pursue a career in nursing. Her first nursing job was at a maximum security forensic psychiatric hospital in Maryland. It was there that she decided to become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Earned a Master's degree from Walden.
