I work with a wide range of adult patients including those with past trauma, long standing or acute episodes of depression, anxiety, grief/mourning, attention issues including ADHD, major life adjustments, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
Therapy can be hard. Finding the right medications can feel impossible. Mental health treatments can be a difficult adventure to start. I want to help navigate the rocky waters of this journey alongside you. Life is complex and our paths can be convoluted. Let’s explore and learn more about what’s brought you to where you are today and where you want to be in the future. I offer both in-person and virtual options for medication management and/or regularly recurring psychodynamic psychotherapy. Meds aren’t for everyone; therapy isn’t for everyone. Let's figure out what's right for you.

My special interests include supporting women as they navigate the perimenopause transition, helping people with ADHD learn how their neurodivergent brains work, holding space for people through grief and loss, and assisting healthcare workers in recovering from burnout.
Trained as a family nurse practitioner and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I use a mind-body lens that focuses on building total health from the ground up. My approach goes beyond symptom management with the goal of helping you discover deeper fulfillment in your life and relationships.

I have worked with chronic health issues, relationship struggles, mood issues, eating disorders, grief and the sense of a lack of fulfillment in life.
I believe that creating a satisfying, meaningful and happy life is a worthy goal. There may be obstacles in the way. Getting help to identify and deal with those obstacles is one of the goals for therapy. Therapy is a collaborative process at its best and one in which the therapist uses skills and expertise as a consultant. That is my goal in providing therapy. I seek to understand and assist clients to live their lives to the fullest with a deep sense of satisfaction and realization of a life well lived.

You may be feeling tired, overwhelmed, and even alone. What you do know is that you do not want to feel this way anymore. My approach to helping you re- access the "best you" is an integrative approach that fits you personally. Initially, determining what may be blocking you. It could be diet, a deficiency, a loss,a trauma or what may feel most confusing is, that you don't know why you feel this way.

As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I support people whose quality of life is being negatively impacted by depression, anxiety, and other conditions. In a safe and non-judgemental environment, I work alongside each person to create a treatment plan that is both effective and doable. While medications have their place in many circumstances, I also incorporate non-pharmaceutical approaches, such as therapy and lifestyle changes, so that the need for medication can be lessened when possible.

Grief Psychiatrists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
