You find yourself in the middle of life asking yourself - "is this all there is?" You got the degrees and career, bought the house and picket fence, have the partner and maybe kids. It feels like you're doing all the right things, but you're not happy. It feels like a set up! You're anxious and angry and don't like the person you've become. You don't know what you like, want or need or how to ask for those things. You lost your voice, your sense of personal power and parts of your soul. Your sense of purpose and direction seems clouded. It hurts and you don't know how to make it better.
Recently, I completed my EMDRIA training for EMDR. While this is not the only way I approach counseling, I believe it is a wonderful tool when used well. Learning how to make friends with your nervous system is an approach I use. Clients who are interested in trying approaches that root out the reasons we act the way we do, might find me a good fit.
