Steven Reidbord, MD, Psychiatrist in San Francisco
Please contact me for: (1) a psychiatric evaluation without jumping to conclusions, and explained in plain English; (2) traditional dynamic psychotherapy - only flexible, non-stuffy, and straightforward; (3) recognition of mind-body medicine, i.e., how the body affects the mind, and vice versa; (4) prescription writing when needed, with a light touch and full attention to pros and cons. The ideal patient for my practice appears successful on the outside, but wants to overcome longstanding dissatisfaction or self-defeating behavior. Examples include prolonged reactions to trauma or grief, undue guilt or self-blame, or a pattern of interpersonal conflicts.
I am a board-certified psychiatrist (MD) with a career-long focus on psychotherapy: conducting it in my private practice, teaching it to interns and residents, demystifying it for the public. We'll consider medical and medication related matters, but knowing you as a person, hearing your perspective, comes first.
In addition to my office practice, I oversee all Continuing Medical Education at CPMC, serve on their Ethics Committee, and teach/supervise psychiatry residents. I also blog about psychiatry, including here on PT. Want more details? Click the "website" button to the left, under my photo. Be well.
