I am a Board Certified, Harvard Medical School affiliated, Adult Psychiatrist in private practice in Cambridge . I have had a subspecialty interest in treating OCD since the late 1980's. In addition to treating patients with OCD and related disorders, a large part of my practice is helping people who have depression, and anxiety problems such as panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder. Most of my practice involves psychotherapy with empirically tested psychotherapies such as CBT and ACT, and medication management. Many like the idea of seeing one person for therapy and medication instead of two.
I start with a thorough diagnostic evaluation, usually over two to three visits. Then, I discuss pros and cons of treatment options to work together with my patients to form a treatment plan. I use CBT treatments and mindfulness practices to limit use of medications to the minimum that is clinically needed.
During my residency, I trained with John Rush, MD, an international expert in the treatment of depression, and one of the pioneers of CBT. Years later, I worked at the MGH OCD Clinic for 4 years. I am a Physician member of the OCD Foundation, and I have lectured extensively on the diagnosis and treatment of OCD. Time to make some changes? Let's start!
