Dr. Graydon Goss was raised in Tinton Falls, NJ. He attended Christian Brothers Academy, Brown University and Dartmouth Medical School receiving his Doctorate in Medicine in 1977. After training in Psychiatry and Child / Adolescent Psychiatry at Los Angeles County General Hospital and U.S.C. Medical Center, he served as Chief of the LA County Adolescent Psychiatric Crisis Unit. In 1998 he returned to NJ, where he utilizes skills developed over 38 years of practice addressing the complex problems which face today's teens and their families. Unlike many psychiatrists he provides talk and behavioral psychotherapies as well as psychopharmacology.
Many "psychiatric" symptoms have medical, neurological, hormonal, environmental or nutritional causes which are frequently overlooked. Similarly, a variety of "physical" symptoms may have emotional roots. In his practice, therefore, he believes that it is essential to take into consideration the complete person as well as one's entire psychosocial sphere.
After nearly 40 years of practice, Dr. Goss recognizes that overlooked diagnostic possibilities as well as over-diagnosis often result in prolonged or ineffective treatment programs. As both a practitioner and educator he has succeeded in simplifying and creatively solving complex psychiatric, individual and inter-personal problems.
