I diagnose and treat individuals (ages 12 and up) and families with substance use disorders. My goal is to support you and your family to be more than simply drug-free but to return to a state of wholeness and good health. I integrate a medical model for the treatment of the relapsing chronic brain disease of addiction with evidence based practices like mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy. I utilize medication assisted treatment for addictions. I also treat comorbid mood disorders such as depression and anxiety in people who struggle with substance use disorders.
I worked as a substance use counselor in New York City and in India before medical school. I trained at Cambridge Health Alliance of the Harvard Medical School in Internal Medicine. I specialized in both Addiction as well as Adolescent and Young Adults at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
My approach is to integrate evidence based medical treatments for addiction, mindfulness and stress reduction techniques, and harm reduction inclusive of the 12 steps. Every patient is unique, so my approach depends on your needs. I also treat co-morbid mood disorders like anxiety and depression.
