My relationships with patients are built on trust and authenticity. I seek to create a sacred space in which I can help people discover and become their true selves, using all the resources available. These include mindfulness-based psychotherapy, anxiety regulation, community support, and (when indicated) medication. My work in the field of psychiatry has transitioned from a large, university-based practice of mostly medication management to its current state: a small, personalized practice in which I can provide individual psychotherapy, support and treatment as each person needs and desires.
I have specialized training and experience in the fields of perinatal mental health and addiction medicine. I founded and developed the UCSD Maternal Mental Health Clinic from 2007-2013, providing specialized services to women dealing with a range of emotional health issues during infertility, preconception, pregnancy and postpartum.
In 2013 I left practice to focus on my own recovery from opioid addiction, which began following childbirth. I have received additional specialized training in addiction medicine and mindfulness meditation techniques to help with anxiety regulation and relapse prevention.
