I use talk therapy and, when necessary, medications, to help people get to a place in which they can listen to their own voice, and use their own strengths, to cope with life's challenges, to establish a meaningful vision for their life, and to carry it out. I help people with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and career difficulties.
I combine a basic psychodynamic perspective (ie our life is strongly affected by currents within us that are outside our awareness) with existential, interpersonal, cognitive and behavioral skills. When indicated, I recommend medications to help the patient achieve a stable base from which to gain insight and make changes.
I am able to draw on both the psychoanalytic tradition, as well as medication therapy, and to use them in an integrated fashion.
