Dr. Deirdre Clare Curran, M.D., MD, Psychiatrist in Northampton
I treat women and teenage girls in my private practice, as well as trans and gender questioning individuals. With 20 + years of experience, I offer a nuanced approach to treating issues like anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, and panic disorder. My board certifications are in adult, as well as child/adolescent psychiatry. I generally consider medication only after other approaches have been explored with me. If you would like to set up a consultation, please call and leave times to call you back. I only take the local insurance HNE. I don't take the 5 college insurance.
After the first visit (which is a consultation to see if the fit is right) I find that a complete evaluation is the best way to get to know you. This may take 3 sessions, during which I review your needs, past treatments, social/family history and medical history.
I do offer telephone/ telemedicine for some patients. I don't prescribe psychiatric medications on the first visit. Benzodiazepines and stimulants are classes of medication that I either don't prescribe or prescribe only under certain circumstances. I don't treat alcohol and substance disorders, nor eating disorders.
