I offer the option of adding medications to your integrated treatment plan. That said, I'll tell people when they don't need medications and instead need to focus on taking action. I have had success using this combined approach to efficiently help people into better relationships, better jobs and a better life. I'm available to my patients by phone and text for urgent matters, 24/7.
Patients are surprised that I take an hour or more to get to know them during the first session. Being a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, I believe in knowing a person before diagnosing their problems. My job is to understand you to help you empathically understand yourself and make better choices.
Patients are entitled to an easily understood formulation of their personal psychological barriers to living more effectively. A midwesterner by upbringing, I speak plainly about those barriers from the first session. At any point in treatment, I will tell you exactly what's in the way of achieving your goals.
