I am an ANCC board-certified PMHNP. I received my MSN in Psychiatric Mental Health from Virginia Commonwealth University. I worked as an RN on a trauma step-down unit, helping patients who had endured bodily trauma and patients withdrawing from substances. The clinical experience I received during my training was largely with inpatient mood disorder and forensic psychiatric populations with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder. When I began to work as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, that experience influenced my decision to focus on mental health.

Patricia completed a post-graduate degree from Wilkes University and certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center as Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. As a double board-certified provider, Patricia has been in practice for over ten years. Through extensive clinical practice she creates a safe and therapeutic environment for holistic wellness. She makes her treatment plan decision together with the patients and utilizes evidence-based practice for medication management to treat those under her care.

Born and raised in Cuba, Dr. Carmona received his Doctorate of Medicine (MD) in GI & Family Medicine at the Havana Medical School, and practiced as a physician from 2002 to 2009. In 2007, Dr. Carmona moved to the Republic of Namibia in Southern Africa, where for two years he provided critical medical services to roughly twenty-five thousand people living in rural villages and isolated areas.

I have a special interest in the overlap of mental and physical health. Becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner is my fourth career. I am a medical doctor from another country and after being re-inserted into the United States health system as a registered nurse and, subsequently, a family nurse practitioner, I had the opportunity to take care of and treat several people with mental health needs.
