The education and experiences of 25+ years, have given me the skills of evaluating and treating a multitude of life situations. I treat clients who are adults, couples, teens, and children. Problems may include marriages that are off track, have communication problems, lack intimacy, affairs; individuals stress in life resulting from divorce, work, family, loss; teens and children with trauma, loss, family changes, difficulties with peers, trouble focusing on school work, change in grades, increasing irritability; families concerned about a family member, having communication struggles, divorce recovery and/or other family trauma.

I enjoy collaborating with patients who are dealing with challenges such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and men's health issues. My ideal patient has a strong desire to make positive lifestyle changes even if they lack the motivation to do so. That patient would be ok with me pushing them towards their goals but also comfortable with sharing with me the pace at which they are comfortable being pushed. My ideal patient understands the significance of a holistic approach to their wellness or is willing to learn, and believes that recovery is possible.

Kristi works with patients across the lifespan and is currently licensed in four states. She welcomes clients seeking help for a wide variety of psychiatric mental health conditions including but not limited to; anxiety, depression, mood disorders, ADHD, obsessive compulsive disorders, addictions and insomnia. Kristi Muncie is board-certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and also board-certified as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.

As a nurse, with almost 15 years of experience in caring for patients, I found my passion in helping those struggle with mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, bipolar, ADD, and self-esteem issues. I have a particular interest in the pediatric/adolescent population as they are facing stressors that this population has never had to face before and have been experiencing mental health concerns at an alarming rate, however I work with clients up to the age of 60. I provide comprehensive care through medication management and talk therapy and I believe in a conservative approach when possible.

I am a board certified psychiatrist and an esteemed Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a Fellow of American Psychiatric Association. I am fully trained in Adult, Child and Adolescent, Geriatric, Emergency and Addiction Psychiatry. I received my general and adult psychiatry training at University of Maryland/ Sheppard Pratt and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training from Johns Hopkins Medical Institution. I've dedicated my practice to treating individuals with a wide range of psychiatric illness. My specialties in the treatment of children, adolescents and adults utilizes the application of the bio-psycho-social model. After completing training in Adult Psychiatry, I pursued a fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. I am available to provide medication management. In addition, I have recently become the medical director for Dr Kahlil Shillingford's Bariatric Surgery Practice. My duties include providing clinical supervision to office and hospital staff and performing performance improvement studies.
