Our practice specializes in patients with Major Depressive Disorder, OCD, and PTSD that have failed to respond fully to medications, or have experienced intolerable side effects. With 23 years of experience in mental health and psychiatry, our treatment team offers a unique combination of experience and the most up-to-date treatment options. We also work with your insurance to improve affordability and access to care.

If you are struggling with unmanageable moods or emotions, maybe you have tried treatment in the past but it has not worked for you. Please come see me and we can build off your history, making sure not to repeat things that have failed you in the past but rather build from this knowledge and improve your symptoms and quality of life through different treatment modalities. When needed, medications with the lowest side effects, easiest to use, most predictably effective & not addictive are recommended. Ultimately, it is up to each person to decide which strategies they will use to achieve wellness.

I am a dual certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. I have been in practice since 2011. I work with children, adolescents and adults and offer medication management services as well as therapy. My focus is working with attention deficit disorder (ADD/ADHD), depression, anxiety, mood disorders and other behavioral conditions. I am also uniquely specialized to treat women during pregnancy, postpartum and pre-menopausal stages. I have 2 in-person office locations in the Denver area and also conduct visits via telemedicine.

I have 10 years experience treating both mental health and substance abuse. My goal is to help patients and their families diagnose and treat the problems they have, while being respectful and compassionate. I help those suffering from depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, OCD, as well as many other mental health disorders, including opiate addiction on an outpatient basis using buprenorphine. I am accepting new patients, ages 8 and up. Milestone provides medication management of psychiatric medications only. We do NOT fill out disability nor FMLA paperwork.

Our provider, Carrie Shahbahrami, MSN, APRN, ACCNS-AG, PMHNP-BC, is dually boarded in medical and psychiatric care allowing a comprehensive assessment of each client's needs. Carrie began her nursing career in 2000 focusing on the needs of patients within the acute hospital setting. Upon furthering her education at Johns Hopkins University and University of Cincinnati, Carrie chose to focus on client's needing specialized psychiatric care and treatment. Carrie's passion is serving the underrepresented while reducing the stigma associated with mental health.

My ideal patient is a person or family motivated for change now. I offer cutting-edge treatments with intakes and followups within seven days to all of my patients. All patients have direct email, phone, and text access to my medical team. From young children to elite adult athletes with ADHD to people challenged by other behavioral health issues, I am enthusiastic and eager to help!

I provide early intervention and integrative approaches, such as communication with all providers, schools, and support teams. I design individualized treatment plans for a variety of mental health disorders. I primarily work with children, adolescents, and young adults. I encourage relationships within family systems, fostering opportunity for patients to be heard and to feel known within the context of their story.
