Hello there! I'm Kara Tarr, a dedicated mental health professional with over 15 years of varied medical experience. My journey in the medical field began with education as a cardiovascular perfusionist, armed with a Bachelors Degree in Biology. From there, I found my calling in nursing and earned a Bachelors degree in the field from Duquesne University, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My skills and knowledge have been put to test in a number of challenging environments including intensive care, surgery, and IT nursing.

I work with adults and the aging population in all diagnostic categories, but have special interests in movement disorders (Tardive Dyskinesia, Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, etc.), neuropsychiatric conditions, and treatment-resistant/severe-persistent mental illness.

Shannon Blankenbeckler is a board-certified mental health nurse practitioner. Shannon collaborates with her patients to improve their functioning and quality of life. With active listening, kindness, and compassion, she works with her patients to identify the issues holding them back.
