I am a practicing psychiatrist applying psychodynamic psychotherapy, contemporary psychoanalysis, and medication management to help patients. People often think that their problems are unclear, confusing, and that there are no real answers. People often wish that their lives could be better or that they could have a greater sense of wellbeing. It could be work or school performance, or relationship difficulties. These problems can be helped, in a way that brings lasting benefit.

Julia is a psychiatric nurse practitioner and holds a master’s degree in nursing from Ohio University and an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota. Prior to becoming a nurse, she worked as psychosocial specialist helping patients who have mental health challenges navigate the healthcare system and community resources. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Idaho State University. For the last 11 years she has practiced as an intermediate ICU nurse in a variety specialties.

Our approach to medication management is client focused and collaborative with the main goal of providing compassionate and up to date psychiatric care for clients of all backgrounds, treating adult, children and adolescents. When developing a treatment plan we make sure all potential medical factors are treated or ruled out, as we continue to work on psychological wellness. Our goal is to educate about various evidence-based options for patient treatment so that individuals can make an informed decision that is the most helpful to their needs.

Ideally my patient is as invested in their care as I am. They could have a variety of diagnoses but the thing they have in common is they are willing to give the process time, are open to new ideas, and know there is no magic pill to fix all their problems. My patients want to get to the best version of themselves and are willing to try therapy as well as medications to help them reach that goal. My patient wants an empathetic, listening provider who can guide their care based on the evidence, but tailored to their individual needs.

I specialize in the medication management of depression, anxiety, grief, PTSD, mood disorders and personality disorders. While I am NOT a therapist, I do incorporate brief psychotherapy and work in collaboration with therapists for the overall well-being of our clients.
