I am a specialist in dual disorders, and treat people with addictions as well as the full range of psychiatric disorders, like schizophrenia, bipolar illnesses, depression, OCD and panic. I often work with people other docs have not connected with, or considered too tough, because I listen, and am flexible and straightforward, yet at the same time thorough and safe. This includes those not ready to make a behavior change, younger people, those with unstable or complex conditions, pain, sleep disorders and those who don't want to take medicines.

I am a Psychiatrist with sub-specialty in Addiction/Substance Use Disorders. I work at a Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospital in Boston, MA. My main focuses are the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of adult patients (18+), who are suffering from psychiatric disorders (i.e.depression, anxiety, bipolar,..) and substance use disorders (alcoholism, heroin, cocaine, drug use).

Chiké Nwankwo, "Doctor Chiké," is a Harvard trained adult and child psychiatrist. He has worked on Beacon Street in private practice in Brookline since 2006. Dr. Chiké specializes in psychotherapy for both adults and children, but is also comfortable prescribing medications when it is necessary.

I am a Board Certified, Harvard Medical School affiliated, Adult Psychiatrist in private practice in Cambridge . I have had a subspecialty interest in treating OCD since the late 1980's. In addition to treating patients with OCD and related disorders, a large part of my practice is helping people who have depression, and anxiety problems such as panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder. Most of my practice involves psychotherapy with empirically tested psychotherapies such as CBT and ACT, and medication management. Many like the idea of seeing one person for therapy and medication instead of two.

I do a comprehensive evaluation listening for various psychological, emotional and biologic "clues". This is an interactive and iterative process. "Our" formulation guides the treatment. I practice both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. I often consult for colleagues in psychology and social work regarding the use of medications.I then manage the medications as part of the treatment team.

Dr. Toppelberg is an experienced, Harvard-trained child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist, usually working with ages 3-30. He evaluates and treats emotional/ behavioral difficulties including ADHD, depression, trauma, stress, anxiety, and selective mutism, and those preventing weight loss. He has focused on issues of performance at work, study and competitive sports. He regularly works with tour-level tennis players and other professional and student athletes. He is an expert in neurodevelopmental disabilities, as well as learning and language disabilities. I am double board-certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. I believe in using both medication when indicated as well as therapy. I was trained in CBT and was given the Excellence in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy during my residency program. I use supportive therapy with each client I see.
