Hi! I’m a New York City-based double-board certified psychiatrist working with adults, adolescents, and children. My work centers around psychotherapy; including developmentally appropriate psychodynamic, CBT, and play therapies. In addition, my approach to psychiatric medications is to meet individuals and families where they are at. I work with people who want to seek deeper growth and meaning without numbing what makes them human. As for my background – I trained at BU and Mount Sinai, and have worked at both The New School and as lead psychiatrist at the Columbia University Medical Center counseling center.

I understand you may be experiencing excessive worry, anxiousness, pounding chest and shortness of breath and cannot understand why. Educational degrees background consists of: Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP); Master of Science in Mental Health Psychiatric Nursing and a Master of Arts in Addiction Counseling. I have worked in nursing for 27 years. I do immigration psychological evaluations too. I have worked in civilian and military nursing positions and was stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. I am a Gulf War Era veteran.

My practice is devoted to helping patients surmount the obstacles that interfere with their ability to function optimally and live their best lives. Using evidence-based practices, I will work with you to develop a treatment plan that is compatible with your goals and values as an individual. Some of my patients see great benefit from the judicious use of the right medications alone; others prefer treatment which involves only psychotherapy. Many find that a combination of these two treatment modalities brings the quickest and longest lasting results.

Throughout my career, I have treated a wide range of conditions from Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Addiction, Bipolar, Borderline Personality Disorder, Insomnia, ADHD, PTSD/Trauma, and other mental health problems. Your treatment will be evidence based and individualized to fit your specific needs. Sessions will focus on medication management, psychotherapy, and lifestyle awareness (sleep, nutrition, exercise, and stress management skills). During our session, I will discuss your unique symptomatology in context with DSM-V diagnostic criteria. Any presenting health concerns may need referral for routine physical and labs before FDA approved medications can be prescribed. We will collaborate to create a unique treatment plan and discuss evidence based treatment options. At a later date, we will follow up usually within 2-4 weeks for medication management and adjust medications as needed in addition to monitoring your symptoms.
