I am Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University and a board-certified psychiatrist committed to offering comprehensive care for individuals, couples and families. I practice and value psychotherapy because it can be an enormously powerful tool to enhance personal growth, learning and self-discovery. Being a physician enables me to offer the option of medication when needed. This has the advantage of integrating both types of treatments with one provider only. If you are already in psychotherapy, I will work in coordination with your therapist to achieve the best result.

Dr. Welge completed his Residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, based at Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens, NY. For most of the past 10 years, Dr. Welge has primarily worked as an Outpatient Psychiatrist in a Community-based Behavioral Health Center in rural Pennsylvania, where he enjoyed building relationships with clients. Dr. Welge also has a Master's in Physiology, and that background served as a strength, as one's medical issues become as important as one's psychiatric issues as one ages.

Guided by my belief that authentic, meaningful relationships drive high quality care, I partner with our patients and families to first treat psychiatric symptoms, and then move into a preventative approach. I help my patients, both kids or adults, to discover and build on their own strengths, educate them about the science behind how their brains work, and then provide them with the necessary tools to become their own health expert. Hi! I’m a New York City-based double-board certified psychiatrist working with adults, adolescents, and children. My work centers around psychotherapy; including developmentally appropriate psychodynamic, CBT, and play therapies. In addition, my approach to psychiatric medications is to meet individuals and families where they are at. I work with people who want to seek deeper growth and meaning without numbing what makes them human. As for my background – I trained at BU and Mount Sinai, and have worked at both The New School and as lead psychiatrist at the Columbia University Medical Center counseling center.

Nichola Ali is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). She received her Master of Science degree in Nursing from Stony Brook University with a specialty in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Nichola had completed an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (RN) in 2014 from Rutgers University prior to becoming a PMHNP. Nichola received her first Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) in 2010 from Stony Brook University before diving into nursing.

All appointments are currently virtual. He is licensed in New York and California. He founded the group private practice, Ficus Psych. In private practice, he sees children, teens, and adults. Dr. Sayer understands that the best outcomes happen when patients and doctors work as a team. It is his mission to use his expertise, in combination with the unique characteristics of each patient, to empower patients to make meaningful progress in their lives.

I am a board certified psychiatric NP practicing in New York and Connecticut. I earned both my BSN and MSN at NYU. My wholistic approach to treatment involves combining evidence-based psychopharmacology with a therapeutic process that prioritizes the individual and their goals over their symptoms. Dr. Tara Thompson, DNP, PMHNP-BC is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing care to patients in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. Dr. Tara started her career as a therapist after earning a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology degree from Eastern University where she was trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy and systemic therapy. She later decided to change direction and pursue an education and career in nursing where she worked in cardiology and neurology.

I am trained to treat people at all life stages. I do especially enjoy helping children and adolescents feel better and reach their full potential. When working with children, it is crucial to do an in-depth evaluation to look at the "whole picture," as all children exist within their own web of relationships (family, friends, schools, extracurricular activities). I develop personalized treatment plans that use evidence-based therapy, medications or a combination to help children and their families achieve better mental health and family functioning.
