Simultaneously, as the director of one of the largest public, child psychiatry clinics in New York City, 90% of my patients are under the age of 18. I’ve dedicated my entire career to working with children and families. I manage the gamut of high acuity cases in the emergency room, to recent hospitalizations, to stable young adults. I help patients in developing self understanding of their own personal conflicts through play and talk therapy. I use medication when necessary, on agreement with the person that I treat and the parents of children in order to decrease suffering, and facilitate the therapy and psychoanalysis. I treat patient with medication only when appropriate and I collaborate with therapists who want me to prescribe medications to their patients.

I started my career as a child psychiatrist and a researcher 20 years ago. I was interested not only in biological basis of mental disorders, but in psychotherapy and the concept of change. Upon immigration to the US, I studied among influential psychiatrists and therapists in New York and Boston. Currently I work in inpatient and outpatient settings, supervise medical students, and conduct psychiatric research. As I have been for the past 20 years, I am still fascinated with the amazing, complex process of individual development.

Dr. Monica Badillo is double board-certified in child and adolescent psychiatry and adult psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She received additional training and certification in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the New York Medical College Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Badillo is bilingual and speaks Spanish and English to deliver quality care for patients and parents. She provides medication management while incorporating psychoeducation, supportive, and psychodynamic psychotherapies. Generally, she employs 30-minute follow-up sessions, and she may request a psychotherapist to participate in treatment.

Dr. Ben received his MD from Cornell University, his BA from Williams College, and completed his residency in general psychiatry and fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at The Mount Sinai Hospital. He has served as Chief Resident of the Department of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai and has been featured on NBC's Today show.

She received her medical degree from New York Medical College in Westchester, NY in 2008. Dr. Eagle completed a four-year psychiatric residency at Mount Sinai West in New York City. She then went on to complete a two-year child fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx and a one-year consult liaison fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center/Weill Cornell in Manhattan.

I see kids, teens, and adults for therapy and also prescribe medications. Over the years, I have worked in a variety of settings including hospitals as a consultant to medical and surgical teams, inpatient psychiatric units, VA Hospital, various outpatient programs including intensive eating disorder program at Mount Sinai and the New School student health center.
