I made the decision to help others that were struggling with their mental health because of my own personal experience as a patient.

I specialize in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry with a focus on cutting-edge, evidenced-based mental healthcare. I am experienced in the diagnosis and treatment depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, bipolar, psychosis, substance use, and PTSD. As a child and adolescent psychiatrist, I employ a neurodevelopmental, family-centered treatment approach with shared decision-making and collaboration of care. I employ a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches such as mindfulness, cognitive, and dialectical behavioral therapies which are specifically tailored to each patient's needs and therapeutic goals.

I am a dual certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have been a NP for over 8 years and a RN for 18 years. I have a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree in Nurse Administration/Leadership, a Post-Master’s Certificate as a FNP, and Post Master's Certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health NP. I have a passion for teaching others about health and wellness and incorporate functional/integrative medicine with each patient interaction. Dr. Iman Parhami is a triple-board certified psychiatrist (Child Psychiatry, Adult Psychiatry, and Addiction Medicine) who completed his child and adolescent psychiatry training at Johns Hopkins University. He strongly believes that diagnoses do not define individuals. Instead, diagnoses can help classify a set of symptoms and can help identify empirically supported treatments for that class of symptoms. He also believes that psychiatric treatments cannot just include psychopharmacology but must include a multi-disciplinary approach that is family-driven and culturally sensitive.

I was born in Odessa, Ukraine in 1975, while it was still part of the Soviet Union. In 1978, I immigrated to the United States with my parents and older brother. My parents were children of Holocaust survivors. Trauma and depression were very much prevalent in my family and community. However, the stigma of mental illness prevented any of my family members from seeking help. I grew up seeing the effects of trauma that resulted in dissolution of marriages and various addictions. I was always interested in these stories and initially thought my role was to tell them.

I am a board certified psychiatrist and I specialize in psychotherapy with adults. I also prescribe medication, when indicated, either in combination with psychotherapy or alone. I work with people with a wide variety of symptoms for coming to see a psychiatrist. Every person is unique. I have worked with people from many different backgrounds, including the sports world, the entertainment industry, business, teaching, students, parenting and other settings.
