Trained at Harvard, Johns Hopkins, and the University of Pennsylvania, I have been in the clinical practice of psychiatry, psychotherapy, and psychopharmacology in the Philadelphia area for over forty years, and provide crisis-intervention, consultation and short- and long-term therapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have extensive experience in the treatment of psychosomatic and eating disorders, depression and suicidal behavior, anxiety, psychosis, sexual and physical abuse, and addictions, among other problems, and also provide consultation and ongoing clinical supervision for mental health professionals of all disciplines.

I provide a complete range of psychiatric services including comprehensive evaluation, medication management, individual therapy and family therapy for children of all ages through adults. I understand how the complex dynamics of family affect the individual and how having a challenging child with emotional and behavioral problems affect the family system as well. I focus on the strengths of each child, individual and family, and utilize them in therapy to empower the child and their families to help them accept and overcome their issues.

My name is Dr. Kristen Cheslick and I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of nursing experience in providing compassionate, evidence-based care to patients across the lifespan (children/adolescents, adults and older adults). My available services include mental health evaluations, medication management, brief solution-based/supportive psychotherapy, and appropriate referrals as necessary. WE ARE ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS! North Star Psychiatry offers medication management and psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and young adults. We accept new patients between ages 4 and 25 years. Patients outside of this age range may be accepted on a case-by-case basis. We offer a hybrid treatment model with in-person visits at our physical location in Malvern, PA and telepsychiatry visits anywhere in the state of Pennsylvania. We have extensive experience working with young people who are living with mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, ODD, PTSD, OCD, and eating disorders.

Dr. Kristen A. Bransby provides mental health services to pediatric and adolescent patients up to 21 years of age (no adults). By training and certification she is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Pediatric Mental Health Specialist. In addition, she completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice and focuses on always providing evidence-based medicine. Kristen is an Associate Teacher Professor at Penn State University’s Graduate School teaching nurse practitioner and doctoral students. Kristen believes in ongoing collaboration with patients and families to monitor patient progress and maintain a state of mental health equilibrium.
