I am a Harvard-trained relational psychiatrist with 29 years' experience with psychopharmacology and insight-oriented psychotherapy. While medication can alleviate symptoms, they cannot resolve psychological pain. Nor can someone be known and understood in a 15 minute appointment. Sustained recovery takes time and occurs within a caring relationship. A psychiatrist must be fully present and authentic for patients to have reason to trust.
