Hi, My name is Dr. Sherin Moideen and I started Virginia Psychiatry LLC to provide specialized psychiatric care to women. Women face unique challenges during periods of life and reproductive transitions, career, and parenthood. I strive to take into consideration the biological, psychological, social, and cultural experiences that are unique to women. Certain diagnosis are often overlooked in women. I have been practicing in the Richmond area for over 10 years and I am licensed to practice in both Virginia and Washington D.C. I offer telemedicine appointments throughout the state.

I'm Arlene, a board-certified Physician Assistant and Clinical Temperament Counselor. My expertise includes Behavioral Health Counseling and Primary/Acute Care. I hold a national Surgical Assistant Certification with specialized training in Neurosurgery, Plastics/Reconstruction, General Surgery, and Orthopedics. Additionally, I offer services in Medical Nutrition Therapy, Blood-Type Specific Nutrition Counseling, Diabetes Nutrition Counseling, Temperament Career Counseling, as well as addressing anxiety and depression. I'm passionate about my healthcare profession and have had the privilege serving patients for nearly two decades.

I am Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of experience, providing medication management and adjunctive psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults. I believe in a multifaceted collaborative approach to patient-centered care. My focus is on the whole person, including medical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects. Medication management is just one element of a successful treatment plan and that supportive therapy and teaching coping strategies are valuable tools in treatment. I am currently accepting new patients in the Glen Allen office and/or telehealth.

My treatment approach is simple-- help you get to the underlying cause of your mental health symptoms and offer you effective solutions to help manage them. I believe that medications are only one tool among many that can help improve symptoms of mental health-- in my conversations with patients I put equal emphasis on the importance of good nutrition, optimal gut health, stress management, individual talk therapy, regular exercise, and excellent sleep hygiene. I am now pleased to also be offering ketamine-assisted therapy for individuals with treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, OCD, and PTSD.

Through Telemedicine, I enjoy getting to know my clients and helping them discover how to lead better lives from the comfort of home. I treat clients of all ages and issues and have special interests in Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Personality Disorders, Bipolar Disorder and Schizoprenia.

Welcome to my practice! I am a Board Certified psychiatrist, who trained at Georgetown University Hospital where I served as chief educational fellow and at a Jefferson Medical College teaching hospital in Philadelphia, and in 2020, I opened my practice here to provide my expertise and psychiatric services to adults, including emerging adults residing in the DMV area. I currently serve as a psychiatric consultant at Northwestern Medicine in Illinois and other hospitals in Virginia and Pennsylvania. I specialize in treatment, provide consultation for patients struggling with various sleep, mood, anxiety disorders, and ADHD.

When I started working in healthcare as a cardiac nurse I saw the widespread effects of addiction. Since then, I’ve dedicated my career to helping people overcome substance use disorders. I use a compassionate and supportive approach along with the top medical interventions. The approach I take with clients has been influenced by my experience at the bedside as a clinical care nurse and my training as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. This enables me to support clients in their overall health as well as their behavioral health. Accepting new clients in CT and VA.

I am passionate about helping people who struggle with ADHD, depression, mood disorders, relationship issues or trauma. I especially love helping young people overcome their mental health challenges, discover their strengths, and reach their full potential. My additional training in France as a Couples and Family Counselor emphasising a family systems viewpoint has enabled me to better incorporate an individual’s particular context and background when considering treatment. I have been a Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner since 2022 and am certified to work with patients across the lifespan.
