I am a psychiatrist in private practice at Raleigh Psychiatric Associates since 2015. Treatments offered include both medications and psychotherapy. I treat adult men and women with depression, anxiety disorders (including generalized anxiety and panic disorder), obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and substance use disorders. My sub-specialty is women's reproductive mental health. This includes women who are planning a pregnancy, currently pregnant, or postpartum, as well as women struggling with infertility, pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), or menopause-related mood and anxiety problems.

As a PA with over 8 years of experience, I work collaboratively with other providers and therapists to provide quality mental health care to clients. This care includes the evaluation, diagnosis, and management (including education, medication prescribing and monitoring) of adults with mental health problems with the goal of helping to restore them to their highest level of functioning. Before joining the outpatient psychiatry team at CareMind Health/Mindoula Clinical Services, Dr. Mak worked as a Staff Psychiatrist for the San Diego Amer. Indian Health Center and for the U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. Additionally, Dr. Mak has held a Faculty position with the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Mak is currently a Navy Reserve Officer.

My approach is based on a wellness model rather than the disease model and integrates the benefits of modern psychiatry with more holistic modalities. I bring decades of experience in modalities from psychoanalysis to psychedelics and integrate nutritional psychiatry, exercise physiology, mindfulness and blend the wisdom of many traditions with state-of-the-art medical science to co-create a blueprint for healthy living.
