Dr. Munir graduated with academic distinction, receiving his medical degree from Baqai Medical University in Karachi, Pakistan in 2013. He completed his psychiatry residency training at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston, MA in 2022 at which point he joined BNBA. Dr. Munir's goal as an early career psychiatrist is to accommodate the wide spectrum of needs of his patients. He is a staunch proponent of patient advocacy, and emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic alliance. He is attuned to the vast array of different cultural, religious and political backgrounds of our diverse communities.

I am a psychiatrist in private practice for over 20 years, treating patients by integrating psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and, when indicated psychopharmacology. As a physician, I am able to evaluate patients with symptoms which may be medical or psychiatric in origin, understanding the mind-body connection. I see a broad range of patients, some suffering from major mental illness to those healthy individuals seeking to learn more about themselves. A major focus of my private practice is working with college and graduate students. I see students as young as seniors in high school and consult to parents of college age students around the country.

I am a Harvard-trained, Harvard-affiliated, board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. I strongly believe that the best psychiatric care is centered on the whole person, not just on a diagnosis or specific medication. I provide weekly therapy and work with patients to determine if medications can be of help. I do not believe that everyone needs a medication, but they can be useful in treating particular psychiatric symptoms; I will work with you in order to find the best treatment modality that meets your goals and needs.

Every patient is different. I focus on improving self esteem, relationships, love life and work life. I do not use only one theory. Treatment draws from all sorts of different theoretical approaches. I prescribe medications when warranted by the clinical situation. Each patient and his or her improvement is very important to me. Achieving a sense of happiness and self worth is critical to a fulfilling life. I work with people from age 15 and up.

My practice focuses on helping people with anxiety, depression, and mood disorders, PTSD; individuation within the framework of psychodynamic psychotherapy. I particularly enjoy working with adolescents (18+), adults, couples, and people involved in the arts. Childhood experiences and relationships with one's family of origin influence an individual's personality and provides a template for future relationships. It can therefore be fruitful to understand via therapy that your family relationships are not destiny. I believe therapy is a psychological and spiritual journey, requiring empathy, patience, and validation of feelings.

Chiké Nwankwo, "Doctor Chiké," is a Harvard trained adult and child psychiatrist. He has worked on Beacon Street in private practice in Brookline since 2006. Dr. Chiké specializes in psychotherapy for both adults and children, but is also comfortable prescribing medications when it is necessary.

They seek guidance, medication management, and a safe space for psychotherapy to work through their concerns. Dr. Toppelberg is an experienced, Harvard-trained child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist, usually working with ages 3-30. He evaluates and treats emotional/ behavioral difficulties including ADHD, depression, trauma, stress, anxiety, and selective mutism, and those preventing weight loss. He has focused on issues of performance at work, study and competitive sports. He regularly works with tour-level tennis players and other professional and student athletes. He is an expert in neurodevelopmental disabilities, as well as learning and language disabilities. He runs psychiatric services at an excellent school for children/adolescents with autism and other neurodevelopmental disabilities, the prestigious New England Center for Children.

As a Harvard-trained board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist, I believe that excellent psychiatric care is centered on the whole person, not just on a diagnosis or a specific medication. With all that life demands, most people oftentimes struggle with complicated and conflicting feelings. I am known as a "psychiatrist's psychiatrist," a true healer, and one who is gifted at working with "challenging" situations" -- both individual and couples. Therapy is my specialty, and I evaluate and prescribe medication only for patients I treat in therapy when it is truly indicated. I particularly enjoy working with individuals who are more interested in developing their own capacities than in complaining about the inadequacy of what they find outside themselves in the world and in other people. I do not provide "medication management" if that is a primary reason for consultation. I'm Cristin O'Connell, a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My goal is to offer a safe space for adults to explore medication management.
