As a Nurse Practitioner, I provide care for patients of all ages. My expertise is treating mood, behavioral disorders and other disorders in children and adults. I am passionate about helping my patients obtain stable mental health so that they may live their lives to the fullest. I work with each patient to ensure that they have the proper mental health counseling as well as the proper medication if medication is needed. I also encourage patients to engage in hobbies which will promote mental wellness. Self-care is so important for mental and physical well-being.

I am a double board certified psychiatric mental health and primary care nurse practitioner experienced in medication management of psychiatric conditions including anxiety, mood, and eating disorders, substance abuse, anger and stress management, and ADHD. I completed a Master's in Nursing Science degree from Rush University in Chicago, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the psychiatric mental health certificate from Lewis University in Illinois.

I strive to foster a collaborative relationship with each of my clients. I sincerely believe that a strong relationship between provider and patient begins with an understanding of how each client sees themselves - and their goals that they would like to personally achieve.

Meet Dr. Bene Nwumeh our provider who is a dual board-certified Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner. Benedeth has been a Nurse Practitioner for many years and she focuses on mental wellness managing both adults and adolescents with anxiety, depression, ADHD, ADD, personality disorders, mood disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar, eating disorders, and more. She has more than 30 years of clinical experience in health care both in and outside the United States. Dr. Bene earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice with a Specialty in Psychiatry from the University of Massachusetts Global.

As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner I understand the importance of treating the whole person. Sometimes life can feel so complex that we forget laughter can be the best medicine. Elizabeth has been a family nurse practitioner since 2013, receiving a Masters degree in nursing from St. Xavier universory in Chicago.  She has worked in a variety of settings, including psychiatry that became her passion. Outside of the office, Elizabeth enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband, two children and their dog, soap making, and spending time outdoors.

We are a group of psychiatric nurse practitioners, clinical psychologists, social workers and therapists with nearly 100 years of experience in behavioral health care. In our practice at Family Counseling Service, we treat children, adolescents, and adults. Our team of professional counselors/social workers and medication providers work together to help individuals achieve successful outcomes in their lives.

I provide therapeutic services to patients of diverse backgrounds with cultural sensitivity. My methods include utilizing a pharmacotherapeutic/ psychotherapeutic approach in providing beneficial mental health care. I understand that living with a psychiatric illness can be challenging, but a positive outlook on life can be achieved with the right psychiatric care approach, which involves patient teaching and collaboration. My goal is to make every patient I consult with realize that there is light at the end of the tunnel and a debilitating mental health disorder can be effectively treated.

Alexandra Whitaker has treated patients with depression, postpartum depression, anxiety, PTSD, personality disorders, Bipolar depressive disorder, ADHD, and substance use. She believes that mental health is as important as physical health. She aims to deliver the best evidence-based care with respect and compassion. She has experience working with patients from various cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds and is fluent in Polish. She recognizes each person for their individuality which is reflected in her holistic treatment plans. She enjoys collaborating with patients to help them identify and overcome barriers.

Early in life our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Crystal Stone opted to serve in the US Air Force in a non-medical field. After her time, she felt it was time for a change into healthcare. She spent several years in critical care, mental health, home health, and other specialties. It was sometime later in returning back to school for higher education as she wanted to do more for people.

During my time working in primary care I have observed significant deficits in access to quality mental health care for both the geriatric and adult populations including patients with dementia, major depressive disorder, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and substance use disorder. I’ve become focused on helping fill in those gaps in care. So often medications are quickly prescribed to manage complex issues that need an interdisciplinary and holistic approach. I obtained my buprenorphine waiver to help contribute to a solution of the opiate crisis which I have seen devastate the lives of people of all ages.

I am a dually board-certified Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of nursing experience. I hold a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and a Family Nurse Practitioner certification. In my holistic practice, I provide mental health care services to adolescents and adults. I believe in integrative care that is based on the empathic understanding of my client’s physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.

My name is Corey Shumate, I am a licensed Psychiatric Mental Nurse Practitioner. I am a person who prioritizes listening with sensitivity, compassion and care. I approach each session in a judgement free zone. I assist the client in delving into their past and help with identifying patterns that they may not be aware of, in order to gain control over their emotions.
