I am a Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner with 30 years experience in the field. I am a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and University of Maryland Schools of Nursing. I have practiced in inpatient, emergency room, mobile crisis, home care, day hospital, and out patient settings. I am licensed to provide psychiatric evaluation, medication management and psychotherapy to ages 16 and over. I have specialized in geriatric, adult and young adult , substance misuse, mood disorder, anxiety disorder, adoption, grief, gender identity and family crisis. I recently became certified as a psychedelic assisted therapist.

For 20 years, I was a full-time faculty member at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine teaching medical students and training residents. I have 32 years experience in private practice assisting persons with substance use disorders, major psychiatric disturbances and behavioral addictions, including sexual addiction and gambling. As a Board certified psychiatrist in Addiction Medicine, Addiction Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatrist, I deal with the negative consequences of a variety of disorders alone and in combination, as well as relationship issues not related to addictions. I am particularly trained and experienced in the use of medication for these problems and their symptoms.

Raphael is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who uses a patient-centered holistic approach to treat patients across the lifespan. He has over 10 years plus of experience in Emergency department, 2 years in psychiatry and worked with diverse populations in various mental health settings including outpatient mental health clinics.

After training at Hopkins and then serving as full-time staff/faculty at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine for many years, I am now in private practice where I treat a variety of conditions, including depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, irritability, OCD, mood swings, Bipolar, and life stressors. I am double Board-Certified, and both a Psychopharmacologist (medication expert) and Psychotherapist (using Cognitive-Behavioral therapy and other approaches). I am a board-certified psychiatrist and psychotherapist in private practice in Towson. My practice emphasizes a collaborative process of exploration and understanding. I provide talk therapy and medication management, as needed. Together, we can learn about how your mind works and put words to feelings that you have. We can also work to identify patterns which may be holding you back and potential shifts which may improve your feelings of efficacy.
