Being a Seattle native, she returned to medical school at the University of Washington School of Medicine and then completed her residency in psychiatry at Yale University. She completed a fellowship in psychosomatic medicine at Harvard Medical School, where she gained special expertise in treating co-morbid complex medical conditions and psychiatric disorders.
