Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I spent over six years working as a nurse in different nursing specialties.

Her educational specialty and clinical training in psychiatric mental health gives her the ability to diagnose, prescribes treat, manage, and evaluate patients across the life span suffering from mental illness such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, OCD, PTSD, autism, ADHD, gender dysphoria, neurocognitive, and neurodevelopmental disorders with empathy and passion. She has over 20 years of registered nursing experience in a variety of settings including an Acute Psychiatric Hospital, having patients with psychiatric issues.

Dr. Caroline Ogashi is a Board-Certified Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Her training and nursing experience expands over three decades working in various nursing settings. Dr. Ogashi is compassionate and possesses great listening and caring skills that are loved by her clients. She believes in a holistic approach and holds the philosophy that the body, mind, and spirit must work together in harmony to achieve balance. Our treatment methods help you find wellness while keeping you out of the hospital. With an interdisciplinary approach, InnerSpace combines therapeutic and psychiatric modalities. We specialize in treating mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD and learning disorders, and various forms of addiction. Group sessions occur on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 4 pm to 7 pm. The program also includes individual therapy, individual psychiatry sessions, family sessions, treatment planning, and a feedback session upon completion of the program.

I address the combined impact of sleep, lifestyle, relationships, nutrition and chronic medical conditions on well-being, and use cutting edge tools like genetic testing to guide personalized treatment with medication and supplements. I consider the patient’s cultural background in my assessments and I can provide treatment in Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian. My goal is to help my patients create lasting changes and build vitality, resilience and purpose in life.

I have devoted my entire career to improving the treatment depression. After completing a fellowship the National Institutes for Health, I was recruited to Baylor College of Medicine where I became a tenured professor. I have conducted original research into new treatments, lectured and helped with our national research agenda. I am proud to have my efforts recognized by my peers with with several awards, including "Super Doctor" from Texas Monthly magazine. As a double-boarded psychiatrist, I am trained to assess, evaluate and treat any psychiatric disease. However, I have built my clinical and research career specializing in the area of mood disorders specifically depression and bipolar disorder. My special interests also include neurobehavioral psychiatry, psychosomatic psychiatry and cultural psychiatry. I offer a wide range of treatment modalities including psychopharmacology, psychotherapy and transcranial magnetic stimulation.

My goal is to work collaboratively with patients. After an initial consultation I will make a recommendation for treatment. Your treatment plan may include medications and/or psychotherapy. Based on your history I may also recommend pharmacogenomic testing to help guide the process of selecting the most appropriate medication for you.
