Our therapeutic partnership sets the tone for treatment and is optimized with open communication and ongoing collaboration. Provider is accepting new patients for medication management only and does not provide stand-alone therapy services at this time many of the patients I encounter are suffering emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Our treatment goals are always to improve conflicts with oneself and others. During treatment we delve into problematic thought patterns that present with anxiety, depression, pain, and addiction, founded in some form of trauma.

Do you feel like you're trudging through life, weighed down by a constant sense of sadness & worry? Perhaps the joy you once knew has faded, replaced by a persistent feeling of being stuck. You're not alone. Millions of adults struggle with Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, and an overwhelming sense of being trapped in a cycle of negativity. I understand the profound impact these conditions can have on your daily life. The relentless drain of energy, the crippling anxieties, & the sense of hopelessness can make even the simplest tasks feel insurmountable. You may yearn for the vibrant life you once had, but the path forward seems unclear.

I have treated a diverse population of patients with many different diagnoses including depression, anxiety, bipolar mood disorders, PTSD, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, ADHD, and personality disorders.
I received my medical degree in Turkey. After graduating from medical school, I completed two years of mandatory service as a general practitioner in an underserved area near the Syrian border during the beginning of Syrian Civil War. While working there, I have noticed that people mostly seek help for their physical illnesses and wounds. But some injuries/sufferings are not seen and yet pain the most. I realized that invisible wounds are the hardest to heal. It requires love, patience, understanding, and emotional support for their closure.

While psychiatric diagnosis commonly is at the forefront of the physician-patient relationship, my practice emphasizes problem-solving and formation of therapeutic alliance as the pillars of tailored and effective individualized care. My extensive training has provided me with abundant tools to work with and treat any psychiatric condition, but I am particularly interested in management of ADHD, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. I take a culturally tailored, holistic, and comprehensive approach to psychotherapeutic and medicine management.

I am a board certified psychiatrist, a medical doctor who specializes in treating adults experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. I apply a combination of medication management and individual therapy. The first appointment is to identify the symptoms that are causing distress or interfering with patient’s function to make treating these particular symptoms a clinical priority. Examples may be difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep or waking up too early in the morning, excessive worry or finding it hard to “let things go”, feeling tired all of the time or losing interest in things.

Are you an adult with unrecognized ADHD? Adults with ADHD are too often misdiagnosed for depressed people. Understandably, disorganization, lack of focus and procrastination often lead to underachievement and low self-esteem. As an Adult, Adolescent & Child Psychiatrist and seasoned Psychotherapist, I know how to help people suffering from being misunderstood and judged. A thorough evaluation including the identification of what you are suffering from as well as the assessment of your specific strengths, skills, resources and abilities, will define all together a goal-oriented treatment plan with or without medication prescription.

Trauma and PTSD Psychiatrists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
