I am board certified in Adult Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry, and treat adult individuals of all ages and backgrounds. My areas of interest and experience include college mental health, integrating psychotherapy with medication, mood disorders, thought disorders, depression and anxiety, healthy aging and memory issues, as well as psychiatric issues in pregnancy and post partum. I strongly believe that understanding and knowing my patients well is crucial to forming a strong alliance and providing good care that is tailored to the whole person--whether through medication, therapy or both.

Abbey is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, who graduated from California State University, Long Beach. She has over 20 years of experience working in the field of mental health with children, adolescents, families and adults. Abbey offers a range of assessment and treatment strategies to address mental, emotional and behavioral concerns. Each person is unique and Abbey uses a collaborative approach working as partners to achieve a person's optimal mental wellness, empowering the individual on their healing journey.

Dr. Lempa is an adult psychiatrist who believes in collaborative treatment with a focus on increased functionality and individual outcomes. Dr. Lempa provides a thorough assessment utilizing a biological, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual formulation. He formulates an individualized treatment plan consisting of nutrition, exercise, psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. I am a board certified psychiatrist, a medical doctor who specializes in treating adults experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. I apply a combination of medication management and individual therapy. The first appointment is to identify the symptoms that are causing distress or interfering with patient’s function to make treating these particular symptoms a clinical priority. Examples may be difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep or waking up too early in the morning, excessive worry or finding it hard to “let things go”, feeling tired all of the time or losing interest in things.

I am proud to have completed formal fellowship training in both Child & Adolescent and Addiction Psychiatry. I have a particular interest in the treatment of severe mental illness and adolescents with addiction issues. I completed my medical degree at Loma Linda University and completed my Psychiatry residency and 2 fellowships at the University of Louisville. I focus on providing thorough diagnostic interviews and providing medication management services.

Dr. Musher is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Neurology. He began his psychiatry career nearly many years ago. He completed his PhD in psychiatry in 1988 and he served his residency at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He has been in private practice since 1998 and has experience in the evaluation and treatment of major psychiatric conditions including, but not limited to: major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, mood disorders and forensic evaluations.

Dr. Yang has been providing care for patients since 2014. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a dual-major in Biology & Psychology, University of Washington School of Medicine and Harbor UCLA Medical Center's Fellowship Program. She is board-certified in both General Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. She participated in UCLA's Parent Training Program and is certified in UCLA Peers (Program for the Education & Enrichment of Relational Skills). She dedicates her time to seeing only youth and empathizing with patients & their families.

Hello, my name is Nate Miller, and I hope to help you find a good fit for your mental health needs. I strive to create a welcoming environment where it's easy to talk and share what's going on in life. I have a relaxed, empathic style and provide ample time for questions. At the same time I am thorough and methodical, carefully doing my best to understand what's going on. My approach to mental health is to understand the person as a whole, appreciating their strengths and challenges. I find it very helpful to get to know an individual and hear about their life. Then we can carefully consider the challenges at hand.

Originally from rural eastern Canada, I attended medical school at Saba University School of Medicine. I completed both adult psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. I treat a broad range of psychiatric diagnoses with therapy, medications or both if needed. One of my specialties is the treatment of borderline personality disorder with close attention to preventive treatment in adolescence.

I am a board certified psychiatrist and my practice includes the treatment of adults and adolescents ages 16 and older. Having received specialty training in Women's Mental Health, I am experienced with mood and anxiety disorders during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Mental health and psychiatric symptoms are complex, and affected both by brain chemistry and environmental factors. I listen closely to understand the details of a patient's life in order to determine the best course of treatment. When medication is indicated, I strive to develop safe and effective regimens with my patients.

I am a compassionate, Board Certified Adult psychiatrist with experience treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders.  I feel lucky to be able to work collaboratively with individuals facing unique and complex challenges at all stages of life. I believe in empowering patients to take an active role in their care, and feel that this can help us work together to achieve the most positive possible outcomes. I provide comprehensive assessments, taking into account all aspects of patients' lives, and provide both medication management and psychotherapy, or a combination of the two as appropriate.

In order to offer my patients the most appropriate treatments, I believe firmly in performing a rigorous diagnostic assessment. The results of this assessment are then discussed with my patients, and we work collaboratively to create a treatment plan tailored to his or her individual needs. When working with children, I believe it is essential that both the child and the parents' preferences be honored. If everyone agrees that medication is indicated, then my preferred approach is generally to use the fewest number of medications at the lowest possible effective dose(s).

I am able to provide a broad assessment of a child, adolescent or adult's difficulties and coordinate treatment to address the root causes of the issue. I consider psychological, social, family systems, cultural, interpersonal, academic and medical issues.

I have worked locally in SLO and Ventura counties, and see people from across the state. I use a whole life approach, that includes lifestyle and nutritional changes, medication options, and a multidisciplinary mindset. I explore early life experiences that have made us who we are, then link the impact of the past to the present. I believe expanding our connection to the natural world is core to our personal journey to happiness and use this in my care.

While psychiatric diagnosis commonly is at the forefront of the physician-patient relationship, my practice emphasizes problem-solving and formation of therapeutic alliance as the pillars of tailored and effective individualized care. My extensive training has provided me with abundant tools to work with and treat any psychiatric condition, but I am particularly interested in management of ADHD, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders.
