Children and teenagers often undergo hard changes in their lives that they have little to no control over. Perhaps it's a change due to divorce, loss of a loved one, abuse or problems with peers and school. These difficulties can cause big behaviors that seem overwhelming to kids and cause concerns for their parents. However challenging, these behaviors provide insight into the child’s need for support which can be provided through individual and family counseling. In sessions, clients will engage in play therapy and be given a creative space to process their experiences. Parent consultation is also utilized to support family goals!
Overtime, families will notice their stress tolerance increase and their ability to manage problems more effectively. Children and teens will feel more understood and valued by their caretakers. Those nagging feelings of worry and sadness will decrease, allowing the family to engage in parts of life they have been taken away from for some time.
My job is to be the holder of your family’s story so that I can help you rewrite a more desirable narrative. As a clinical counselor, I have helped many families reclaim feeling of peace after incredibly hard seasons. Contact me today for a free consultation and we’ll get started on your journey together!
