I am an addiction specialist treating compulsive behaviors for the last ten years. I have helped people struggling with substance, food, gambling and compulsive sexual behaviors. I am a licensed clinical social worker and a certified sexual addiction therapist. With this experience I have specialized in developing techniques to support the parents and partners in relationship with those in active addiction. There is a reason addiction is our number one public health issue and the sooner people intervene on themselves or others the sooner recovery begins.
Therefore, I have focused my treatment building resiliency to shame, healing trauma and establishing stronger boundaries. I believe shame, trauma and codependency to be at the core of most people's struggle with addiction.
I was trained by Patrick Carnes, worked closely with Brene Brown and facilitated thousands of hours of intensive treatment with adults in the Houston area. 7 man group designed to educate and treat compulsive sexual addiction. This group relies on open group process for accountability and feedback for the client. We do use the Recovery Start Kit to broaden the group content as well.
