No one had a perfect childhood, including you! Maybe your anxiety, depression, unhealthy coping, relationship struggles, and inner chaos aren't a character flaw, but a sign of untreated emotional wounds. Unless we actively attempt to make sense of our reactions and behaviors, they will continue to control us. Our bodies and minds remember the pain from the past and react to that pain whenever something reminds us of it. Increasing our awareness of these connections can be eye-opening and can allow us to shift how we perceive ourselves and our relationships. You are not to blame for the ways in which you learned to protect yourself.
I support people in gently uncovering what is below the surface of their pain so they can heal it at the root. I acknowledge the role oppression and a toxic society has on our mental health and utilize compassion as an intervention.
As a first-generation immigrant, I am familiar with the complexity of living in two cultures and empower people to understand their multicultural identities. People feel connected to me because I am validating, authentic, and invested in you as a client and a human. I am a big animal lover and have special training in Emotional Support Animals (ESAs).
