There can be a variety of reasons why we may feel overly anxious or uneasy, feel rigid, stuck or out of control, or sad, depressed, weepy and hopeless. These and other feelings often show up in our relationships with family and friends, work-school, food, substances or with other behaviors. My approach to therapy is to provide a safe, compassionate and honest environment to help you come to an understanding of why this is happening, and guide you on the journey of healing, growth and change. I work to empower people with a new awareness and stronger ability to manage the challenges in life that bring us to seek therapy.
My clinical training is in humanistic psychodynamic therapy; how our past influences us later in life, and how we can heal. We will work together to mend the wounds, adverse experiences or traumas that affect our relationships and ourselves. I specialize in trauma, disordered eating/eating disorders, relationships, grief/loss, stress, anxiety and depression.
As a LCSW my values are of service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, the importance of human relationships and equity. I come from a strong framework of inclusivity and social justice, which allows for an awareness of where I come from and how that shows up in my work, and of culture, class, gender identity, sexual orientation and abilities.
