How can we make deeper changes when we are trying to manage unusual pain, or are just handling our day-to-day suffering? When we feel safe and accepted as we are, we can challenge ourselves to grow, and to encounter others in an authentic way. I aim to create, with you, a safe place where we get to know your habitual patterns of behaving and relating, and explore less familiar sides of you that may offer surprising possibilities for thinking, feeling, relating and living. How can deepening awareness enliven, balance, support, un-stick, sustain or change your life? Let's find out!
Using the present-centered, experiential emphasis of Gestalt Therapy alongside psychodynamic talk therapy, I will support you in exploring thoughts, physical sensations, emotions and images from dreams and imagination. These are entry points to expanded awareness that can help change limiting self-concepts, relationship styles and behavior patterns.
I incorporate EMDR, a technique for resolving disturbing traumatic memories for those who are troubled by them. Using a harm reduction framework, I support those involved in behaviors they are worried about (eg., drug use) to work on changes that feel right for them rather than pushing any fixed agenda.
