I tend to work well with someone who yearns for understanding. Someone who may crave social interaction, but is not quite sure how to go about it. Someone who is developing their identity and consolidating their sense of self. Someone who wants more out of life but is not quite sure how to get it. Someone who feels lost and plagued with self-doubt. Someone who is not sure why they engage in the same self-defeating behaviors over and over and over. I am open to working with a wide diversity of clients who represent various sexualities, ethnicities, racial identities, genders, and ages.
As with many psychologists, the bulk of my experience has been with mood and anxiety disorders as well as problems with motivation, compulsiveness, and behavioral management. In general I help people to develop coping skills and to communicate better. I do this by fostering personal insight, utilizing strengths, and reinforcing self-esteem and confidence.
My core principles incorporate safety, honesty, and respect. I believe it's essential to be non-judgmental and authentic towards my clients. I seek to understand and to validate the whole person; I do this by looking beyond labels and surface appearances and considering the innate qualities that makes each person unique.
