I work well with people who want to understand themselves and their relationships. Generally speaking, if it were just a matter of trying really hard, very few people would need therapy. Therapy is much more about working to properly understand oneself than it is putting intense effort into the same old tactics for change.
I practice psychodynamic therapy, which means I am concerned with the uniqueness of a person's mind and how it developed throughout their lifetime. I have advanced training in Relational Psychodynamic Therapy, which means I pay close attention to my relationship with each of my patients, and I see that relationship as the primary agent of long term change.
I believe that humans are essentially relational beings, and so healing and transformation happens in the nuances of a relationship.
