Bryant West Psychology in the heart of NYC is a growing group practice of over 40 well-trained psychotherapists, primarily psychologists, who see mainly adults in person and online throughout NYS (with some clinicians doing telehealth in NJ and other states). You can visit our website, www.bryantwestpsychology.com, for a full list of our clinicians, their training, specialties, and contact information. Among the many issues we address are Depression - Anxiety - Complex Trauma - - Sexual Inhibition/Expression - Relationship Conflicts - Loneliness and Isolation - Reproductive Health Issues - Intimacy - Compulsive/Addictive Behaviors - Self-Esteem - Life Transitions - Maginialization and Othering - Personality Disorders - LGBTQ... Issues - Chronic Illness and Pain - Work Stress - Shame - Neglect -Physical/Sexual/Emotional Abuse - Social Inhibition and Anxiety - Mood Disorders - Phobias - Neo-sexualities - Parenting Issues - Post-Partum Issues - Cultural, Social and Systemic Racism, Sexism, Homophobia, Ableism…… Core Values with Multiple Treatment Approaches
Our psychotherapy approach varies according to your needs and the issues you seek help with. No matter the modalities we incorporate into treatment (CBT, DBT, ACT, EFT..) we are humanistic and relational - we recognize that we all carry wounds, disappointments, and, for many, trauma within relationships and society that have deeply impacted us. Out of a need for safety and survival (physical and psychic), we have developed strategies, patterns of behavior, views, and ways of relating to ourselves and others that once protected us but now hold us back and contribute to terrible distress and symptoms. Therapy may be an exploration of old wounds and earlier trauma, still quite present and impacting you; it may be a space for learning new ways of viewing yourself and others, or it can be a place to learn new skills, try out new patterns of relating, and allow for the emergence of new experiences of yourself and within relationships - all in the contact of a compassionate, accepting, sometimes challenging, but profoundly respectful professional relationship in which you are encouraged to be frank and open, even critical, but always expressive of how you are experiencing the process. We Embrace Diversity
As a practice, we embrace and celebrate diversity and work to understand you within your reality as you negotiate and carry an identity positioned within the social matrices of race, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, religion, culture, age, ability, and immigration status.....with all the privileges and burdens associated, impacting you in ways that are visible and sometimes cryptic, but profoundly impact your psyche (soul). We are here to understand your unique struggles and help you negotiate invisibility, safety, agency, and power dynamics within systems large and small that can be daunting or meant to hold you back.
