My intention as a therapist is to help you overcome blocks and resistances, open up to experience, and increase trust in yourself. I will work with you to better understand how your emotions, thoughts, and behaviours make sense, so that you can improve your self-understanding and make meaningful choices. There is no wrong place to start your therapy and I will meet you right where you are from a truly nonjudgmental place.
My primary areas of practice relate to personality, anxiety, mood, emotion-regulation, identity development, and relationships. I completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology at McGill University and have trained in both hospital and private practice settings primarily using acceptance and commitment, process-oriented, and compassion-focused approaches.
In addition to individual therapy, I lead a 12-week compassion-focused therapy group 3 times per year (next is September 2024). As a clinical supervisor, I also work closely with graduate trainees offering lower cost services (approx. $100/hr) through Ottawa River Psychology.
