Shirley has over 25 years of experiences working with children, adolescents, individuals, couples and families in government funded programs and employee assistance programs. She specialized in supporting clients to overcome emotional problems (anxieties, low mood, depression etc.), relationship issues, parenting challenges, couple problems etc. She uses a variety of modalities such as EFT, EFFT, CBT, DBT and Narrative Therapy when working with clients. She believes that her client has the ability and resources to get better if they are given the support they need.
She works toward helping her clients to see their values, skills and knowledge which enable them to stand up to the problems they face. She likes to think outside-of-the-box to utilize creative methods such as story, art, drawing, writing and play-based activity to help her clients engage in therapy.
She is passionate to work along side with parents to help them support their struggling children. Her work with individual/families are informed by family systems theory, attachment theory and trauma-informed practice. Shirley is a trained facilitator for the Triple P Positive parenting programs and the Connect Parent Group and has run many parents groups.
