Being a child of immigrant parents comes with unique challenges. Too often we find ourselves charting through two different ethnic identities and language barriers. Understanding and developing healthy relationships are harder as many of our parents did not learn proper communication methods and what a healthy relationship looks like. As a result, our parents unintentionally pass on unhealthy communication styles to us, leading to cycles of unhealthy relationships. Whether you're struggling with family, romantic, friendship, or any other relationships, you are deserving of your thoughts being heard in a safe space.
I am an Asian American therapist that works with issues surrounding culture, relationships, depression, anxiety, and communication. I understand on a deeper level the impact of culture on mental health and the stigma around it. My approaches are person-centered as Asian Americans are not monolithic and we all grow and learn at different paces.
I know how daunting taking the first steps in your mental health journey can be. However, you have already taken the first step, stepping up for yourself, which is definitely the hardest. The next step would be creating a road map of how you'd like to reach your goals. Schedule a consultation with me today and I would be honored to work with you!
