The effects of trauma are varied and can show up as anxiety, depression, dissociation, grief, intrusive negative thoughts, disturbing memories and dreams, engagement in unhealthy relationship patterns, and low self-esteem. As a former educator, I have found that developing an understanding of the effects of trauma on the nervous system is a good way to begin fostering self-compassion, which is the first step in developing resilience and beginning the healing process.
I specialize in working with adult trauma survivors, particularly those experiencing PTSD and Complex Trauma as a result of domestic violence, sexual assault, spiritual abuse, and childhood trauma. Along with EMDR, I take a holistic, person centered, empathetic, integrative, LGBTQ+ affirming approach utilizing ACT, DBT, EFT (tapping), and somatic work.
