I believe the therapeutic process is a unique, powerful, active, creative, collaborative, and professional relationship that has the potential for individuals to feel a sense of safety, non judgment, validation, empowerment, self-awareness, and self-acceptance. I incorporate the arts, social justice, inclusivity and sex-positivity and utilize an eclectic approach of Multicultural, Feminist, Existential, Relational, DBT, IFS and EMDR therapy that can help foster change, awareness, acceptance and growth. I take a culturally competent and trauma informed approach. I am also licensed in CT.
I have experience working with cancer patients and caregivers, elderly adults, women, BIPOC, LGBTQ, first generation, immigrant or diaspora communities in regards to chronic pain, illness, health, trauma, loss, grief, loneliness, life transitions, relationships, anxiety, depression, explorations of race, culture, sexual orientation and gender identity.
I take a collaborative and affirming approach and welcome your feedback. I try to model safety, patience, humor and authenticity. I understand how difficult support seeking can be and try to help support and validate clients through any shame or stigma they may be experiencing. Groups
Virtual Therapist Consultation Group
Join the biweekly consultation group for therapists. This will be a community to offer clinicians and their caseload support and talk about anything related to burn out, self care, private practice, professional growth and development, networking, countertransference and case consultation. We will begin Thursday, November 7th. Groups will run until the summer. Fees are $35 per group. Please contact me to inquire and join.
