I stress the importance of a strong, caring therapeutic relationship with my clients. My approach depends on each person's goals. My approach is exploratory and less structured for those with general concerns about identity issues, transitions, or relationships. For those seeking a resolution of a particular problem (e.g., depression, OCD, PTSD), I take a structured, goal-oriented approach. I have advanced training in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, and personality disorders. I often utilize EMDR for trauma, DBT for emotional dysregulation, and exposure therapy for anxiety disorders.
I view therapy as a deeply meaningful process that can catalyze a shift in the way you relate to yourself and others. This allows for more fulfilling and meaningful relationships, as well as the subsequent easing of psychological distress. Clients often report being more compassionate to themselves and others following our work.
Choosing a psychotherapist is difficult for everyone. Gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people often face additional concerns when searching for a mental health professional due to past discrimination. As a member of the LGBT community, I endeavor to provide affirming treatment. Please email me to determine if we would work well together.
