I operate from the perspective that therapy is not about changing ourselves. Rather, therapy is simply creating space for the seemingly dark, fearful, and shameful parts within us. These parts want to be seen and accepted, just as we all do. In sessions, I encourage my client to allow their body and inner wisdom to drive the progression of the therapeutic process. I believe that healing occurs as we gently move towards non-resistance and self-acceptance. This process catalyzes the body’s innate ability to transform emotions, the conscious, and the subconscious mind.
My areas of focus include trauma, relationship issues, emotional abuse/neglect, religious/spiritual trauma, self esteem, anxiety, and depression. With my background in nursing and kinesiology, I also enjoy working with chronic pain, injury recovery, medical trauma, and disordered eating. I utilize modalities such as EMDR, Brainspotting, IFS, SE, and DBT.
I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in training (3yr program). I am Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia and Tennessee. I offer telehealth sessions for TN residents at Meridian Minds Therapy (meridianmindstherapy.com) I offer telehealth and in-person sessions for VA residents at Falls Church Wellness Center.
