I have been practicing as a mental health counselor for nearly 20 years, serving as a mental health counselor, counseling center director, and teaching college-level human development courses. I have also served as a domestic violence advocate and instructor within the Department of Corrections. I have expertise in not only addressing mental health concerns, such as depression, anxiety, relationship dynamics, parenting, and managing stress, but also helping people with college and career success, career exploration, and decision making, whether it's the beginning of your career or your next career opportunity.
My theoretical approach is client-centered, interpersonal, and cognitive behavioral. Each client has their own strengths and areas for development and I believe my role as a counselor is to facilitate exploration and understanding of self, which will aid in personal growth. Therefore, I use techniques to treat each person holistically as well as uniquely.
I enjoy raising my 15 year old son, spending time with my partner, and adventuring with my BFF and her family. I spend my free time reading, cooking, camping, being near the water, fantasizing about owning a B & B, and planning my next getaway. I look forward to meeting each other and hope to become a person you trust to accept, hear, and understand you.
